Mangaluru: Mangaluru City North MLA Y Bharath Shetty said that the New Mangalore Port Authority will develop the road from the Industrial Area in Baikampady to NH-66.Shetty told reporters that the work on the development of a concrete road from Baikampady Industrial Area to NH-66 and a truck yard will commence on Thursday. The New Mangalore Port Authority (NMPA) has agreed to sanction Rs 11 crore, the MLA said, adding that a well-equipped road and truck yard will be developed.He said the Port Authority has agreed to sanction funds. The MLA said a meeting was held in this connection in his office on Monday.A detailed discussion was held during the meeting involving officials from the Karnataka Industrial Area Development Board (KIADB), traffic police and the NMPA. It was decided to give more emphasis to traffic control and to ensure minimal inconvenience to the public during the work period, he said.To facilitate smooth construction, police will issue orders to temporarily close the related road, and alternative routes will be provided starting Thursday. Special traffic control measures will be strictly enforced in this area, which sees heavy vehicle movement. Baikampady Industrial Area is a major industrial zone, and there has been a long-standing demand for road repairs and concrete construction, the MLA said.With the commencement of this project, local businesses, vehicle drivers and the public will benefit. “I have instructed the concerned officials to complete the work within two months,” he added.
