Kolkata: The NKDA has revived plans to set up two more smart bus passenger shelters in New Town.The locations—on two sides of Street No. 372 near National Insurance Co Ltd office—were decided long ago and there would be o change, said an official. NKDA has started the tendering process to engage agencies for the plan, and about Rs 12.2 lakh has been estimated for each of the shelters.Currently, the township has around 20 smart bus passenger shelters, the first one being set up in Nov 2020.The smart bus stops have passenger-friendly amenities, such as electronic boards, displaying arrival and departure timings, a map of the area and directions to nearby important places. All such bus stops have seats and a solar panel on top, apart from a newspaper and magazine corner and a kiosk.
