Patna: To ensure smooth traffic movement near Patna Junction and the adjacent areas, the city traffic police on Monday introduced a new route plan. As per the new plan, no autos and e-rickshaws will be allowed to move from Kotwali to Dak Bungalow. They will be able to reach their destination via Buddha Marg from Kotwali.Patna traffic SP Aprajit Lohan said that the last traffic plan for Patna Junction, implemented in May, showed a lot of improvement in traffic congestion. “At present, the traffic pressure has reduced in the north (Fraser Road) and the west (GPO) of Patna Junction, resulting in smooth movement of traffic. However, the traffic pressure in the eastern area (Goriya Toli) has increased, causing commuters to face traffic congestion. Therefore, some changes have been made in the route plan,” he said.According to the revised traffic plan, only empty autos and e-rickshaws will be allowed to travel from Dak Bungalow towards Patna Junction. Autos and e-rickshaws carrying passengers will have to travel towards their destination via Kotwali. Autos coming from Hajipur, Patna City, Patrakar Nagar, and Kankarbagh will not be allowed to go towards Chiraiyatand. They will be able to go directly to their destination from Karbigahiya. The traffic police have decided to ban the movement of autos or e-rickshaws around GPO Golambar. Autos coming to GPO from R-Block will either turn left and go towards their destination via Buddha Marg or park their vehicles on the first floor of the Multi-Modal Hub.“No empty autorickshaw will leave the Multi-Modal Hub. These vehicles can park at the facility and leave only after picking up passengers. Besides, all buses will be allowed to leave the parking facility only after closing the gates of their vehicles. Buses will not be stopped from pillar number 3 to GPO Golambar,” as per the new traffic plan.
