Panaji: Sustainable construction, climate-smart materials, energy efficiency are polity priorities for state govt, said chief minister Pramod Sawant at the National Conference on Goan Architecture & Sustainability that was held in the national capital on Friday.Addressing policymakers, architects, urban planners, sustainability experts and construction industry representatives, Sawant said that new technologies need to be harnessed to preserve heritage.“Buildings that are constructed in Goa must consume less energy, conserve more water, maximise natural light and ventilation and minimise the environmental footprint,” said Sawant, while speaking at the conference organised by Goa State Infrastructure Development Corporation (GSIDC).“Those who want to invest in Goa; we welcome green investment and wellness tourism. Let us build modern infra but never at the cost of our identity,” said Sawant, as he made a major push for climate-resilient infrastructure.Sawant said that instead of copying construction practices of the West, Goa needs to go back to traditional construction practices.”We are fusing centuries-old heritage wisdom with cutting-edge green technology to create climate-responsive public infrastructure,” Sawant said. “Goa’s architectural heritage is a living legacy that continues to shape our future.”An exhibition showcasing GoVAN products was also organised alongside the conference.
