The Supreme Court has rejected a plea seeking directions for an independent and fair probe into the Cockroach Janata Party‘s (CJP) July protest against the alleged NEET-UG paper leak at Delhi’s Jantar Mantar, PTI reported.

The CJP-led agitation began in June, with protesters demanding accountability over alleged irregularities in competitive examinations and the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan. The movement also called for wider reforms in the examination system, amid concerns over the integrity of entrance tests. The protests gained momentum with the participation of climate activist Sonam Wangchuk, who began an indefinite hunger strike at Jantar Mantar in support of the demands.

The agitation continued through July, with the CJP reiterating its demand for Pradhan’s resignation and arguing that the government’s response to the paper leak controversy did not address accountability. The protests subsequently led to legal proceedings over the police action against demonstrators and the Education Minister’s resignation.
