Dhubri: Authorities have served eviction notices on nearly 1,000 families allegedly occupying govt land in Gauripur Revenue Circle.Residents of Alamganj Part-7 and Part-9 have been directed to vacate the land if they lack authorisation, or submit valid ownership documents to the Dhubri district commissioner’s office by July 28.The proposed eviction covers nearly 1,500 bighas of govt khas land. Notices issued under Rule 18(2) of the Assam Land and Revenue Regulation, 1886, give occupants 15 days to establish their claims.A senior district official said, “The notices are part of the due legal process. Every person who has received a notice has been allowed to produce valid land documents or other supporting evidence before any decision is taken.”“Revenue officials will examine each case. Only after verification of the documents and completion of the legal procedure will any further action, including eviction, be considered in accordance with the law,” the official added.The administration maintained that the process would follow legal provisions and every affected family would receive an opportunity to present its case.
