Speaking at the 11th meeting of the Governing Council of NITI Aayog, chaired by the prime minister, Shah said decades-old problems of Naxalism, terrorism, and Article 370, among others, have been resolved within 12 years.
“You (Modi) have provided stable leadership to this country for an extended period, resulting in progress across various parameters. Your tenure will be recognised for its policy formulation and stable implementation. It will be known for the introduction of a foreign policy with a spine and formulating a defence strategy that upholds the nation’s dignity,” he said.
Shah remarked that Modi, who came from an ordinary family, has gained the public’s trust for 25 years, demonstrating the strength of Indian democracy.
He pointed out that in the 62 years prior, the country experienced 13 prime ministers, various political parties and coalitions, leading to a prolonged period of political instability.
“Prime Minister Modi’s tenure will be regarded as a golden era of stability, continuity, and decisive leadership in Indian history. Modi’s tenure is commendable – tireless, uninterrupted, and without any blemish, often working 18 to 20 hours a day without taking a single day off,” he said.
He said the prime minister has redefined the country’s democracy, which suffered because of festering wounds of caste, dynasty, and appeasement for 40 years.”Your decade-long leadership has ushered in a politics of performance, eliminating casteism, dynasticism, and appeasement. This is the biggest booster dose for our democracy. The public is now free from parties focused on caste, religion, and dynasty, and is aspiring for development. There were several problems affecting the country that you solved in a jiffy with people realising that these were such simple issues,” he said.
He said the tenure will be known for removing Article 370 and 35A, triple talaq, giving citizenship to refugees, CAA, and replacing 160-year-old British laws by introducing BNS and BNSS. Also, ending five-decade-old Naxalism, zero tolerance towards terrorism, surgical strike, air strike and Operation Sindoor, which gave shape to the defence policies of various countries.
“Under the leadership of Modi, the NDA today represents 80 per cent of the land area and 76 per cent of the population, advancing the politics of good governance and development,” he said.
Shah also mentioned that during Modi’s 12 years in office, numerous forgotten freedom fighters and national heroes have been honoured.
