Dumka: The Medical Assessment and Rating Board of National Commission for homeopathy (NCH) has restored recognition of State Homoeopathic Medical College and Hospital, Paraspani, Godda, allowing admissions to 63 BHMS seats for the 2026-27 session.The relief came after Jharkhand govt appealed against the earlier denial of permission for fresh admissions and assured NCH, through an undertaking, that institutional deficiencies would be addressed within three months.Principal Dr Ashok Paswan said the board conveyed the decision to the college. “The NCH has restored recognition of the college, clearing the way for admission to 63 BHMS seats in the new session. The collective efforts of the college management, district administration, state government and public representatives have yielded results. We will now work to fulfil all regulatory requirements so that recognition is secured on a permanent basis,” Paswan said on Monday.The college faced restrictions after an NCH inspection in June 2025 and a virtual hearing found it short of prescribed standards. Earlier reports cited shortages of teachers, laboratory equipment, hostel facilities and other basic infrastructure.The issue had triggered student unrest. In July 2026, students began an indefinite protest seeking restoration of recognition and better facilities, saying uncertainty threatened their academic future.Podaiyahat MLA and Congress legislative party leader Pradip Yadav raised the matter with chief minister Hemant Soren, while Godda MLA and labour minister Sanjay Prasad Yadav coordinated with health minister Dr Irfan Ansari and officials. The state filed its appeal on July 20.“As of now, when the recognition to the Godda homeopathy College has been restored, the state govt will take all necessary attempts to establish necessary infrastructure facilities so as to avoid recurrence of such situation any further,” Yadav said.
