Srinagar, Oct 2: Jammu and Kashmir Police have registered a case against ruling National Conference MLA Altaf Ahmad Wani alias Altaf Kaloo and party additional spokesperson Umesh Bhat alias Umesh Talashi following a complaint by a police personnel deployed as the MLA’s Personal Security Officer (PSO), sources said.
According to the complaint, the police personnel alleged that an altercation took place while he was performing his security duties, following which he was allegedly assaulted by Wani and Bhat.
The complainant also alleged that he sustained injuries in the incident and approached the authorities seeking action.
Police subsequently registered FIR No. 332 under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) against the two accused. Further investigation is underway, sources said.
Wani represents the Pahalgam Assembly constituency of Anantnag district, while Bhat is associated with the National Conference as an additional spokesperson. (KDC)
