Palanpur: A first-year nursing student allegedly ended her life by hanging in her hostel room at Merchant College of Nursing on the Mehsana–Visnagar road on Friday.The deceased, identified as Asmita Patel, was a native of Rumla village in Chikhli taluka of Navsari district. She was staying alone in her room in the college hostel.“No suicide note was found in the room. The motive for the drastic step will be ascertained after we speak to her parents, the college authorities and her friends. We have also seized her mobile phone for forensic analysis and call detail records,” said Milap Patel, deputy superintendent of police.According to preliminary information, the college examinations had concluded a day earlier On Friday morning, when the hostel cleaner knocked on the door, there was no response. The door was subsequently forced open, and Asmita was found hanging inside the room.
