Kanpur: A National Lok Adalat will be organized at the Kanpur Court Complex on May 9, to resolve legal disputes involving the general public through mutual settlement and without the imposition of any penalties.A detailed information regarding the event was shared at a press conference on Wednesday by additional district judge-I, Sapna Tripathi, additional district Judge-II (SC/ST) Shuchi Srivastava; and additional principal judge, family court-I, Rajiv Maheshwaram.Based on the special theme ‘Justice at the Doorstep of the Poor’, this court aims to not only raise public awareness regarding the law but also provide relief from the burden of litigation. Judicial officials said that the National Lok Adalat will facilitate the on-the-spot disposal of cases related to bank recoveries, tenancy disputes, and mobile phone and cable network issues, as well as matters concerning income tax, banks, and other financial institutions.Furthermore, relief will be granted on the basis of a settlement in civil suits, family disputes, motor accident compensation cases, and serious cases involving bounced cheques. The senior judicial officers appealed to the citizens to take maximum advantage of this opportunity and put an end to their disputes and embark on a peaceful life. The settlements reached in a Lok Adalat are legally recognized and cannot be appealed against in any court, thereby bringing a permanent end to the dispute.………………
