Rourkela: A private bus, which had just started from Jaraikela bus stand, caught fire in Bisra police station limits of Sundargarh district on Monday. The driver and helper narrowly escaped, while no passengers were on board at the time. The bus, which operates between Rourkela and Jaraikela, had travelled around 200 metres, when flames suddenly engulfed the vehicle, prompting the driver and helper to jump out to safety.By the time, fire personnel from Bisra arrived, the bus had been completely destroyed.Police from Bisra station reached the site and launched an investigation. The burnt vehicle has been seized. Preliminary suspicion points to a short circuit as the possible cause of the fire, though officials said the exact reason would be known only after a detailed probe.
