Indore: Narcotics are easily available in Bhanwarkuan area, particularly during exam seasons when student stress levels are at their peak, alleged coaching operators during a district advisory committee meeting on Monday. They requested a strict crackdown on drug peddling in the vicinity.

Addressing their concern, collector Shivam Verma directed officials to intensify de-addiction awareness campaigns and maintain a vigil around educational hubs.

Also, the administration launched a pilot project, Yaariyan – The Friends Club, to deal with mental health, lifestyle and general wellness issues among students preparing for competitive exams.

The collector instructed coaching institute operators to provide a stress-free and positive environment for students. Emphasising that students living away from home in hostels face significant mental pressure, he urged institutes to adopt a parental role and maintain regular dialogue with them.

To support students, the administration introduced helpline number 14416. Additionally, nodal officers were appointed in govt hostels to monitor and resolve student grievances.
