“I will start campaigning immediately,” Pradhan said. “People of Nandigram will give a befitting reply. I was taken away by the police from a hotel to Mandarmani in filmy style,” Pradhan said.
The Calcutta High Court had earlier granted him interim bail in all the six cases under Nandigram and Khejuri police stations. He was asked to furnish a ₹20,000 bail bond. The court observed that he was taken into custody only after filing his nomination papers and that the cases against him were related to the 2007 Nandigram agitation.

Campaigning for the bypoll ends on October 4 while counting of votes will be held on October 9.
