Nandi meets Meja triple murder victims’ kin

Prayagraj: State cabinet minister Nand Gopal Gupta “Nandi” on Friday met Meja triple murder victims’ kin and assured them of stern action against the perpetrators. Three elderly members of a family, including two women, were found murdered outside their house in Kukur Katwa village under the Meja police station limits on Tuesday morning. The prime accused was arrested the same day. However, he was injured in a police encounter after he allegedly attempted to escape custody when a police team took him to Paranipur Road to recover the murder weapon. The accused was reportedly pressuring the family to solemnise the marriage of the girl of the family with him. The bereaved family told the minister that the prime accused might commit a similar crime if released from jail, posing a threat to their safety. The minister, however, assured them that the criminals would not be spared at any cost. He said under the leadership of chief minister Yogi Adityanath, govt has been working for the past nine years to eradicate crime and criminals, and action in this regard is underway. He added that the victim’s family is deeply shaken and has requested a meeting with the CM. An appointment will be arranged, and the family will be brought to Lucknow to meet him.
