Noida: Over 700 EWS quota students in the district are struggling to secure admission under the 25% quota mandated by the Right to Education (RTE) Act.Officials said that after the two-phases of application and lottery process conducted under the RTE admission system, 2,231 children in the district were allotted seats in private schools. However, 734 students are still awaiting admission.The basic education department has received several complaints from parents alleging that some schools were either delaying the process or denying entry to children despite their names appearing in the official allotment lists.Following the complaints, district magistrate Medha Roopam held a meeting with principals and management representatives of 119 private schools in Noida to address delays in admissions.Roopam directed all schools to complete the process for allotted students within seven days, warning that notices would be issued to institutions that failed to comply with the directive.She also instructed schools to ensure that all RTE admissions were completed before the start of the new session so that the students did not face any academic loss.Authorities said principals were asked to attend the meeting with complete records of RTE admissions, which were reviewed to verify compliance with the law.
