Mumbai: With elections to the Maharashtra Medical Council (MMC) scheduled for April 26, some members have expressed concern over deletion of the names of 72,000 doctors from the electoral rolls. Every medical graduate must register with the MMC and repeat the process every five years, but these 70,000 failed to do so. MMC has 1.3 lakh members. MMC functions as the watchdog of the medical profession, and elections are meant to be held every five years, but haven’t been held since 2022. Polls were announced for April 3, 2025, but got postponed.
