The university campus also has a statue of Rashtrasant Tukadoji Maharaj and various academic departments, while a Tribal Museum has been proposed in the future

Nagpur: The Nagpur University (NU) Senate has approved a proposal to start a university tour for school and college students, as well as citizens. The tour would give public a chance to learn about the university’s historic campuses, academic facilities, and cultural landmarks.

The proposal was moved by Senate member Dinesh Sheram during the recent meeting and received approval from the House. According to the proposal, NU houses several important academic and cultural facilities, such as the Constitution Preamble Park, an international-standard synthetic athletic track, the old central library, an archaeological museum, and a gallery of the fine arts department.

The university campus also has a statue of Rashtrasant Tukadoji Maharaj and various academic departments, while a Tribal Museum has been proposed in the future. Sheram suggested that these sites could be included in a structured paid educational tour, enabling school and college students to understand the university’s academic, cultural, and historical importance.

The idea of such tours was earlier proposed by former director of students’ welfare Abhay Mudgal, who suggested that students should be taken to important locations within the campus to create awareness about the university’s heritage. However, the concept did not progress after his tenure.

Supporting the proposal, NU vice-chancellor Manali Kshirsagar expressed willingness to implement the initiative. Members suggested that transportation arrangements could be made for visitors, including hiring buses.

University officials said the initiative would help students and the public explore the century-old institution and its facilities.
