Aizawl: A Myanmar national was arrested after Mizoram excise and narcotics officials and Assam Rifles personnel, in a joint operation, seized 5.5 kg of methamphetamine, comprising 50,500 tablets, in Champhai district on Wednesday.The contraband was recovered around 4:10pm from a location between Zote and Bulfek villages, excise and narcotics department spokesperson Peter Zohmingthanga said on Thursday.The accused was identified as Kamkimsiang, 20, a resident of Bukphir village in Myanmar’s Chin state. The drugs had allegedly been smuggled from Myanmar for sale outside Mizoram.Kamkimsiang was booked under relevant sections of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act, 1985, and was produced before a district court in Champhai.
