Mumbai: A city-based bidder who participated in an auction on March 5, won four agricultural plots connected to underworld don Dawood Ibrahim. These plots, located in Ratnagiri, have been auctioned by the Smugglers and Foreign Exchange Manipulators (Forfeiture of Property) Act (SAFEMA) authorities. The four plots were earlier registered in the name of Dawood Ibrahim’s mother Amina Bi and were located in Dawood’s ancestral village, Mumbake in Khed taluka of Ratnagiri. The successful auction comes after two previous failed attempts to sell these properties. In the 2024 auction, a Delhi-based lawyer had won two properties. He had quoted Rs 2.01 crore for a land plot with reserve price of Rs 15,440. However, he could not make the full payment within the stipulated time so the winning bids were cancelled. One of the four land parcels auctioned on March 5 had a reserve price of Rs 9.41 lakh and it was sold for over Rs 10 lakh. The Mumbai-based bidder’s identity was not disclosed. In the last 10 years, more than 14 properties allegedly belonging to Dawood Ibrahim’s family were auctioned by the Safema.
