Lucknow: The postmortem examination of former UP minister and BJP OBC Morcha state general secretary Nanakdin Bhurji (68) has concluded that he died of shock and haemorrhage caused by multiple ante-mortem skeletal and internal organ injuries resulting from polytrauma.His family, however, alleged that he was murdered and demanded a fair investigation.According to the report, all injuries were sustained before death. Doctors have preserved Bhurji’s viscera for chemical analysis and his entire heart in formalin for histopathological examination, indicating that investigators are also seeking to rule out poisoning or any underlying medical condition.Bhurji died on Tuesday after allegedly falling from the seventh floor of the New MLA Residence (Darul Safa) in Lucknow.The case took a fresh turn after Bhurji’s younger brother filed a complaint at the Hazratganj police station, accusing Mohammad Arif, caretaker of BJP MLA Hansu Ram, of murdering the former minister.According to police, Bhurji visited the MLA’s official residence on Tuesday. The legislator was not present at the time. Police said Bhurji asked a helper to bring him coffee and remained inside the room. However, when the helper returned, the room was found empty. Moments later, people outside raised an alarm after Bhurji was found critically injured on the ground below the building.He was rushed to Civil Hospital, where doctors declared him dead.Assistant commissioner of police (Hazratganj) Rajneesh Kumar said police have received the complaint naming the caretaker and are examining all aspects of the case.While the postmortem findings confirm that Bhurji suffered extensive fatal injuries before his death, they do not establish whether the injuries resulted from an accidental fall, suicide or homicide. Investigators are expected to correlate the medical findings with forensic evidence, witness accounts, CCTV footage and other material collected during the probe.Bhurji’s last rites were performed at Bhainsakund crematorium in Lucknow, where senior BJP leaders, relatives, supporters and party workers paid their final respects.
