Gaya: Magadh University is working overtime to implement chancellor Syed Ata Hasnain’s directive to clear the pending dues of serving and retired employees within the stipulated timeline.Registrar Binod Kumar Mangalam said all efforts were being made to implement the chancellor’s order. The chancellor has directed all state universities to settle the dues of serving and retired employees in mission mode, with priority to post-retirement benefits such as provident fund, gratuity and leave encashment. July 20 has been fixed as the deadline for clearing the pending dues of retired employees and family pensioners, while compliance reports are to be submitted by July 24.University officials said around 4,600 retired employees and family pensioners are eligible for pension payments from the university fund. The directive also mandates special claim-settlement camps, if required, in the presence of the registrar, financial adviser and finance officer, with a representative from the higher education department. However, officials, speaking on condition of anonymity, said meeting the deadline could prove difficult because of incomplete records, pending litigation, technical glitches and fund constraints.
