Prayagraj: The Staff Selection Commission (SSC) has lodged FIRs against 10 candidates for allegedly adopting a hi-tech method to cheat in the MTS and Havaldar Recruitment Examination 2025 by facilitating remote access to solvers sitting outside exam centres. The malpractice came to light during the first phase of the computer-based examination, conducted from Feb 4 to 20 across multiple cities. Candidates were instructed not to switch off their systems under any circumstances. However, officials said some examinees deliberately powered down their terminals to exploit a technical loophole and enable external operators to access the exam interface remotely. The suspicious activity was flagged by officials monitoring the examination software in real time. A subsequent probe and digital tracking reportedly confirmed that the systems were intentionally disrupted to allow unauthorised access. Based on the findings, the SSC’s Central Region office in Prayagraj initiated legal action and began the process to debar the accused candidates from future examinations. SSC Central Region director Ashish Kumar Srivastava said the cases were detected on different dates and at various centres. While 3 were caught in Jhansi on Feb 6, 1 in Kanpur on Feb 9, 2 in Varanasi on Feb 10 and 4 more in Varanasi on Feb 11. FIRs were registered at the respective police stations. Meanwhile, the commission also cancelled all 3 shifts of the examination held on Wednesday at 13 centres in different cities due to a server outage. SSC clarified that candidates allotted to these centres will be rescheduled for the test, and fresh dates will be notified separately.
