Rajkot: A 25-year-old man was killed and his friend injured after a car hit their motorcycle near the Industrial Training Institute (ITI) in Manavadar town of Junagadh district and fled the spot on Thursday night.According to the FIR registered at Manavadar police station, the deceased, Jay Dav, was travelling from Dagad village to Manavadar with his friend Parth when the accident occurred, between 9pm and 10pm.The complainant, Jay’s father Ramesh, alleged that the car driver was driving rashly and made a sudden turn towards the ITI, causing the vehicle to hit the motorcycle. The impact threw both riders off the bike. Jay struck a cement pole before falling into a roadside ditch, while Parth also suffered injuries.The two were taken to Manavadar govt hospital in a private vehicle where doctors declared Jay dead on arrival. Parth was later referred to a hospital in Junagadh for further treatment.The car driver fled without stopping to help the victims. Police registered a case against the unidentified driver under Sections 281 and 106(1) of the BNS, for rash driving and causing death by negligence, and under the Motor Vehicles Act.
