Ranchi: A 32-year-old woman and her two-and-a-half-year-old son died of suspected suffocation after inhaling smoke from a coal brazier in their room at Chatakpur under Ratu police station limits on Friday night, police said. The deceased were identified as Pinki Devi and Abhimanyu Kumar.Pinki’s daughter Prachi Kumari, 4, and sister-in-law Chhanda Kumari, 17, were rushed to a local hospital, where their condition was stated to be critical.DSP Ajay Aryan said prima facie the victims had slept without dousing the coal fire. Family members grew suspicious when Pinki did not wake up in the morning and alerted locals, who broke open the asbestos roof.
