Gurgaon: A Class 8 student of a private school in Bhondsi sustained grievous injuries after he was allegedly assaulted, along with his mother, by the school principal and the staffers two weeks back. The child’s mother — Sarla, a resident of Ryan Enclave — alleged her son was beaten up by the school principal, along with three other teachers. Police registered an FIR and initiated an investigation into the assault that took place inside the campus on Jan 28. While police have not named the school principal in the FIR, they named the teachers — Riya, Jiya and Anurag. A police officer said the suspects are yet to be arrested. “We are yet to ascertain why the child was assaulted,” the officer said.Sarla alleged in the police complaint that her 12-year-old son was beaten up after being called out of class, “strangled” and forced to record a video admitting to sending Instagram messages. She also alleged that he was kept in cold water for 10-20 minutes after the assault.Sarla said she received a call from the school around 9.20am informing her that her son was injured and asking her to come immediately. Upon reaching the school, the principal accused her son of sending Instagram messages and when she sought clarification, she was allegedly assaulted by the principal.She claimed that the principal and two teachers locked the office, assaulted her and threatened to kill her and her son following which she informed the police control room at 112. Finger and nail marks were visible on her son’s neck, she said. Police said the boy was first taken to Civil Hospital, Sohna, where his medico-legal case was prepared on Jan 28, noting five-six injuries. He was later referred to General Hospital in Gurgaon Sector 10, where he remained admitted for two days. A CT scan and dental X-rays were conducted.On Feb 11, after obtaining medical opinions and reports, doctors declared one of the injuries as “grievous” and the remaining injuries as simple in nature, police said. Based on the complaint and medical findings, the FIR was registered at Bhondsi police station under sections 3(5) (act done by multiple persons), 115(2) (voluntarily causing hurt) and 117(2) (voluntarily causing grievous hurt) of the BNS.Sarla urged police to secure CCTV footage from the school, saying that the alleged assault was captured on camera and expressing apprehension that the footage could be deleted. She alleged that the school principal threatened her with her influential contacts.She claimed that while the principal held her by her neck and pushed her against the table causing her injury, two teachers — Riya and Jiya — locked the office and assaulted her.
