Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin on Wednesday revealed plans to build a “Palace of Veterans” rehabilitation center for Russian soldiers who served in the war against Ukraine.
Located at the former war veterans social rehabilitation center in central Moscow, the renovated Palace of Veterans will feature state-of-the-art medical, physical, as well as social and creative facilities, Sobyanin said.
“This will be a single complex with a first-of-its-kind full-fledged infrastructure for the recovery and rehabilitation of [Ukraine war] veterans,” he wrote in a post on Telegram.
The Palace of Veterans will feature diagnostic equipment, a “walking school,” physical therapy and kinesitherapy halls, as well as a water wellness complex and spaces for yoga and martial arts.
Sobyanin said the space will be designed for “daytime and short-term” rehabilitation visits, with art therapy workshops, libraries, as well as music and dance classrooms.
He did not disclose the facility’s capacity.
The Palace of Veterans will consist of two reconstructed buildings covering 22,000 square meters (236,806 square feet).
Renovation work began in January, with its completion scheduled by the end of 2027.
The nearby Yekaterininsky Park is also being renovated, with a family center, sports fields and a refurbished waterfront with a boat station and amphitheater set for completion by late 2026.
