Kolkata: A vacant area beside the large water body off Sector V Ring Road opposite the upcoming Town Hall will be developed and used for parking to accommodate about 50 cars once the upcoming town hall starts functioning after the end of the assembly polls. Officials of Nabadiganta Industrial Township Authority (NDITA) said there will be huge demand for parking once the town hall starts fully functioning.“The plan is to inaugurate the town hall after election. There will be requirement for adequate parking space, especially when large social events will be held as there will also be rooms for guests,” said an official.“The land will be spruced up by doing some rolling work and laying paver blocks at minimal cost,” the official added.NDITA plans to engage an agency for developing the area for car parking, along with protecting the water body embankment. The authorities initiated the process to engage an agency for the job two days before election Model Code of Conduct came into effect on March 15. NDITA also plans to start work for the proposed second multi-storey parking complex in Sector V after polls. “It will accommodate about 700 cars and will be set up on a plot measuring one acre,” he added.
