Gurgaon: A 24-year-old man was arrested after police took suo motu cognisance of a month-old viral video showing a sports car driving recklessly on Dwarka Expressway.The accused, Pranav Manchanda, a resident of The Palm Springs Golf Course in Sector 54, was allegedly seen rapidly accelerating the car, weaving across lanes and overtaking other vehicles at high speed, while another car recorded the stunt.After examining the video and identifying the vehicle, Rajendra Park police registered an FIR and launched an investigation. The accused was traced and arrested within a day.Police have also seized the car, a Lamborghini, allegedly used by the accused.Officials are also examining CCTV footage and other evidence to determine whether any additional offences were committed.Police said that they have intensified surveillance of videos uploaded on social media depicting dangerous driving or traffic violations. “We are continuously monitoring viral videos and complaints received from the public. Anyone found putting the lives of commuters at risk by performing stunts or violating traffic rules will be identified, and strict legal action will be taken,” police spokesperson Sandeep Turan said.Police appealed to motorists not to treat public roads as racing tracks and warned that reckless driving for social media content can have fatal consequences for both drivers and commuters.
