Mangaluru: MLC Kishore Kumar Puttur on Wednesday visited the home of Ashwini, a grieving woman who lost everything and is living in extreme hardship following a landslide that occurred at Manjanady near Mangaluru last year.The MLC assured the family, currently in a critical situation, that he would provide full support both personally and at the govt level. The massive landslide caused by heavy rain at Pambada Hittilu Kodi Koppala in Montepadavu, Manjanady village last year had shattered Ashwini’s life. In this devastating tragedy, Ashwini lost her two young children and her mother-in-law. Not only did she suffer the loss of lives, but due to the natural disaster, Ashwini lost both her legs, and her father-in-law lost one leg, resulting in permanent disability.MLC Kishore Kumar was deeply moved upon seeing the condition of Ashwini, whose entire family and home were buried in front of her eyes, and who is now struggling without both her legs.The MLA promised, “You are not alone; we are with your family during this difficult time. We cannot bring back the lives you have lost, but it is our responsibility to stand by you as support for your future. I will stand with you in every struggle to rebuild your life, and to ensure you receive your rights, appropriate compensation, and rehabilitation from the govt.”The MLA enquired about Ashwini’s medical expenses and current livelihood, assuring that he would immediately speak with the concerned officials to urgently provide her with the benefits entitled to her from the district administration and the govt.
