Mandya: Melukote MLA Darshan Puttannaiah on Tuesday criticised officials of Chamundeshwari Electricity Supply Corporation (CESC) over alleged negligence in transformer maintenance and failure to address safety concerns in the region. At a review meeting, the MLA expressed strong displeasure, particularly over the continued delay in relocating a transformer located near an anganwadi centre in Narahalli village. Despite repeated requests from residents, officials had failed to take action, he said.Warning of serious consequences, Puttannaiah stated that even a minor untoward incident would hold both officials and elected representatives accountable. He directed CESC officials to immediately shift the transformer from the hazardous location. The MLA also pulled up officials for delays in repairing transformers connected to farmers’ pump sets, stating that such lapses directly threaten agricultural activity. Rejecting explanations citing lack of resources, he instructed officials to ensure the timely supply of transformers to all section offices and to expedite the replacement of burnt-out units without delay.Highlighting the urgency of the issue, Puttannaiah said any disruption in power supply would severely affect irrigation and result in crop losses. Urging officials to act with responsibility and sensitivity, he stressed that the matter must be treated as a priority rather than viewed only through an administrative lens
