Aizawl: Donny Lalruatsanga, deputy commissioner of south Mizoram’s Lawngtlai district, visited Hruitezawl village on Saturday and highlighted the high risk of illegal entry from across the border, as the village serves as a point of cross-border trade with Myanmar.C Lalsawmzuala, the chief executive member (CEM) of the Lai Autonomous District Council (LADC), also visited Hruitezawl with the DC on Saturday.Lalsawmzuala said LADC authorities aim to regulate and manage the movement of goods along the Chhimtuipui river routes. He emphasised the need for systematic planning and better arrangements to ensure smooth and well-coordinated trade with Myanmar. He further said since Hruitezawl is located near the international border, there is a strong need for increased vigilance.The DC urged the local leaders to remain alert and mentioned that around 300 refugee families from Myanmar are currently residing in Hruitezawl village under the govt’s monitoring.He stressed the importance of ensuring that no illegal activities take place in their daily lives and called upon the community leaders to extend full cooperation. He also assured continued support from the administration in addressing the needs of the village.The Lawngtlai district administration has been on high alert due to the ongoing unregulated trade with Myanmar at the Hruitezawl and Zochachhuah entry points, where illegal trade activities, especially fuel exports to Myanmar have been reported.
