Aizawl: A meeting was held on Saturday between the chief electoral officer (CEO) of Mizoram, Garima Gupta, and representatives of various political parties after the Draft Electoral Roll was successfully published under the ongoing Special Intensive Revision (SIR) 2026. The meeting was held at the I&PR Conference Hall, Lianchhiari Run, in Aizawl.Addressing the meeting, Gupta appreciated the dedication and hard work of political parties, election officials and grassroots-level functionaries, particularly the booth level officers (BLOs) and booth level agents (BLAs) of the political parties, for ensuring the successful completion of the enumeration phase of SIR 2026 in Mizoram. She said that among the 16 states and 2 Union Territories currently undertaking SIR, Mizoram became the first to achieve 100% digitisation of the enumeration process.Gupta said the publication of the draft electoral roll is a crucial stage of the revision process and called upon political parties to support voter awareness efforts. She said the claims and objections period will be open from July 4 to Aug 4, 2026, allowing eligible citizens to apply for inclusion, correction, transposition or deletion of entries in the electoral roll.She urged citizens to verify their details in the draft electoral roll and use the window to ensure no eligible voter is left out and ineligible entries are removed, adding that the period is important for newly eligible voters and for correcting omissions or errors.Representatives of political parties shared observations on the ongoing implementation of SIR 2026, expressing satisfaction with how the exercise has been conducted and appreciating the efforts of BLOs and BLAs.During the meeting, the CEO distributed soft copies of the draft electoral roll to representatives of all recognised political parties.The meeting was attended by joint chief electoral officer Ethel Rothangpuii, officials of the CEO ‘s office and representatives from the political parties.
