Nagpur: The year-long wait of the Nayak family from Wathoda hoping for the return of their 27-year-old missing son, Bharat, ended in tragedy after the discovery that he was allegedly murdered in the Mancherial area in Telangana in 2025.Bharat’s body was found on a railway track in Mancherial, but the identification was done a couple of days ago due to the efforts of police constable Rukhsar Sheikh of Nandanvan police station in Nagpur.The youngster had left home on June 30 last year after informing his family that he was going out of town for work. When he did not return, the anxious family searched extensively before registering a missing person complaint at Wathoda police station.Despite continuous efforts, there was no trace of him. In the meanwhile, an unidentified body was found within the limits of Mancherial police station in Telangana. A murder case was registered after a substantial period at Mancherial police station. Preliminary investigation indicated that unknown persons had killed the unidentified man and dumped the body.The only clues were the tattoo ‘Bharat’ on the deceased’s hand, the ‘Nagpur’ tattoo on his body, and a T-shirt with Nagpur written on it. Mancherial police travelled to Nagpur with these leads and coordinated with local stations. A breakthrough came after they visited Nandanvan police station.Known for her expertise in tracing missing persons, constable Rukhsar was assigned the case. She meticulously checked the common database of missing persons of 2025 and contacted families of all individuals named ‘Bharat’ to verify their status. Rukhsar tracked down details of Wathoda police station.While most individuals named Bharat had returned home safely, Nayak remained untraced. Rukhsar reached out to his family and called them to the police station. The family confirmed the identity after seeing the tattoos.The search for the accused in the murder case continues in Telangana.
