Mandya: A 28-year-old private medical practitioner, who was missing for the past three days, was found dead near the banks of the Cauvery River at Muttathi in Halaguru hobli in Malavalli taluk, late on Friday.Police suspect that he died by suicide after allegedly consuming poison.The deceased has been identified as Dr Rakshith,28, son of Surendra and a resident of Makanahalli village in T Narasipura taluk of Mysuru district. He was working at a private clinic in Kestur village of Maddur taluk.According to police, Dr Rakshith went missing on Tuesday, following which his mother, Annapurnamma, lodged a missing person’s complaint at the Kestur police station. A search was launched to trace him. A major breakthrough came early on Friday, when his motorcycle was found abandoned near the forest department guesthouse at Muttathi.Acting on the clue, police conducted a search of the surrounding forest and riverbank area. During the operation, they discovered Dr Rakshith’s body nearby.Preliminary investigation indicates that he consumed poison, leading to his death. However, the exact circumstances and the reason behind the suspected suicide are yet to be ascertained. A case has been registered at the Halaguru police station.
