Nagpur: Congress MP Prashant Padole had a close shave after his car rammed into a light CNG carrier on NH 53 from behind, near Sawali Phata —about 25km from Nagpur. The rural police are checking CCTV cameras to rule out any foul play, said a senior police official. The accident happened around 5.30am when Padole was heading towards Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar International Airport for a flight to Delhi.Padole was travelling with his personal assistant Devendra Sahare, and a gunman while the car was driven by Rahul Girhepunje. According to cops, the CNG truck suddenly changed lanes without signalling, leaving no time for Padole’s vehicle to react.The impact was severe, but miraculously, no one inside the MP’s car suffered serious harm. The truck driver fled the scene. Wadoda police station team tracked the vehicle’s earlier movement to a nearby CNG filling station in Mouda. Police authorities seized the truck and are now questioning the driver.Padole switched to a backup vehicle and reached the airport in time to board his Delhi flight to attend the Parliament session. His driver, Rahul, lodged a formal complaint at the nearest police station, detailing the sequence of events.
