Gurgaon: A day after he went missing, the body of a seven-year-old boy was found in the greenbelt near Kalwadi village, close to KMP Expressway. The body of Aashish, a resident of Fatehpur village and originally from Alwar in Rajasthan, was found on Sunday morning with multiple stab wounds inflicted by a sharp object. A knife, which was also found nearby, was sent for forensic examination. The family suspects a neighbour’s role in the incident.“The accused is currently absconding. We have found multiple stab wounds to the child, around 18-20,” an officer said. The post-mortem results and forensic reports are expected to provide further clarity as the investigation continues, police said. Aashish’s parents, who both work in private companies, lived at a rented house in Fatehpur village. On Saturday morning, Aashish’s mother left him with his father, Kamal, before leaving for work. However, by evening, when she returned home, the child was missing. Despite searching for hours, the child could not be found. Kamal later filed a missing person’s report with the police on Saturday night. The search continued through Sunday morning.Later on Sunday, passersby discovered Aashish’s lifeless body in the bushes. Gurgaon Police arrived on the scene to begin an investigation. The family identified the body and police sent it for post-mortem. Kamal told police two months ago, a mobile phone was stolen and his son suspected a neighbour. “Two months ago, the neighbour’s son stole my phone and my son Aashish reported the incident to me. It is due to this suspicion that led to resentment, ultimately resulting in Aashish’s murder.”The family said Aashish went to play with his friends but did not return, the officer added. A senior police official said, “We are investigating the case and the angle that has been alleged by the family will also be looked into. We are working to get hold of the suspect, which would bring clarity.”
