Lucknow: In a late-night crime spree on Tuesday, armed miscreants allegedly stormed four houses under Sushant Golf City police station limits, looting jewelry and cash worth over Rs 17 lakh and briefly kidnapping a 5-year-old girl, police said.The incident took place around 4am in Mai Ji ka Purwa, when the miscreants entered houses through rooftops and carried out coordinated robberies. According to victims, the accused targeted the houses of a shopkeeper, a contractor and another local resident. Ashish Yadav, a street food vendor, said he and his wife and kid were sleeping when the robbers broke in. When Yadav raised an alarm, his wife sleeping in the next room with her kid confronted the intruders. The miscreants threatened her at gunpoint and snatched a bag containing jewelry. When she resisted, they pushed her to the ground and kidnapped her daughter, 5. As villagers chased the accused, they reportedly abandoned the child about 200m away and escaped on motorcycles, allegedly firing in the air to deter pursuit. The gang allegedly looted jewelry worth around Rs 7 lakh from Yadav’s house, while contractor Rajpal Rawat’s residence was also targeted, with valuables worth nearly Rs 10 lakh and Rs 90,000 in cash stolen. Additional thefts were reported from nearby houses. The incident triggered panic in the village, with residents alleging delayed police response. Senior police officials, including ACP and forensic teams, who reached the spot to investigate, said claims of kidnapping were yet to be verified. “A case has been registered and multiple teams deployed to arrest the accused,” said ADCP, South, Vasanth Kumar.
