Karwar: Major developmental works have been planned for Murudeshwar said minister for fisheries, ports and inland water transport Mankal S Vaidya. Speaking at the inaugural of Mahashivaratri Jagarane Utsav in Murudeshwar on Sunday, he said that the town will see organised parking and drainage systems. The event was organised by the district administration, zilla panchayat, Kannada and culture department, and the tourism department.This year’s celebrations featured rituals like bhasmarchane, gomate puja, samudra arati, laksha bilvarchane, and all-night Shivaratri jagarane. Devotees turned out in huge numbers, and the district minister said that Shiva temples in places like Murudeshwar, Gokarna, Gunavantheshwar, Dhareshwar, and Shejeshwar are all set for development. He added that the main focus is going to be on education sector.“Murudeshwar is my birthplace and it is here that I have built my career. I am grateful to the presiding deity here. The people of this place have supported me, and henceforth, we will make sure these Shivaratri programmes happen every year without fail,” the minister said. DC K Lakshmipriya said that Shivaratri will be celebrated across the five places in the district annually. “We will ensure better crowd management, parking, and all the basic facilities are in palce for the devotees. Robust security system will also be put in place to ensure the event is conducted smoothly.”The minister was honoured for his role in elevating Mavalli one and two gram panchayats to the status of Murudeshwar town panchayat.District guarantee schemes implementation authority, president Satish Naik, ZP CEO Dr Dileesh Sasi, SP Deepan MN, DFO Yogesh, and others were present.
