Chikkamagaluru: Chikkamagaluru district minister KJ George on Saturday took officials to task during the Prajaseva programme in Mudigere for not removing a dangerous tree despite repeated requests from a resident.Pavan, of Kalmane village in Balur hobli, mentioned at the meeting that plants and trees have grown dangerously over his house in Kalmane village, posing a threat. Though he has already submitted applications as per rules to the DC’s office, tahsildar’s office and local gram panchayat, there has been no use, he said.Officials replied that as the place falls under revenue land and a survey of the adjacent land has to be conducted, the revenue inspector and surveyor will visit the spot for inspection and then take suitable action.Taking exception, the minister said the applicant is not talking about land rights here. “He is seeking help to clear the tree before it falls on the house and causes a mishap. This issue is being raised for the second time. The tahsildar should immediately look into it and take suitable action. Strict action will be taken against officials who show negligence in this,” he said.Deputy commissioner Bhanwar Singh Meena said a total of 1,003 applications have been received in the Abhiyan held so far at the taluk and hobli levels in the district. As of Friday afternoon, 761 applications were disposed of and 243 applications are pending for disposal. A meeting of officials is held every Wednesday to review them, he said.400 new sub-stations in 4 years: George To strengthen the power supply network, 400 new sub-stations will be built in the next four years, said energy minister K J George on Saturday.He said though there is no power shortage in the state, there is a lack of infrastructure to carry it from one place to another. To rectify this, work on more than 100 sub-stations is already under way and a total of 400 sub-stations will be built and lines will be strengthened, he said.He clarified that recently there was a temporary problem for a few hours due to a drop in wind power generation owing to lack of wind, and it has now been rectified.
