Udhagamandalam: Tamil Nadu minister for animal husbandry S Kamali on Friday inspected the frozen semen production station for stud bulls located in the Theetukal area of Ooty. The station is functioning at the district livestock farm, managed by the animal husbandry department.During the inspection, she inquired about the ongoing research activities and the frozen semen production processes being undertaken at the site. Additionally, she held consultations with the officials regarding the reformative measures that need to be implemented within the livestock care centre.The facility spreads over 130 acres, with a total of over 80 stud bulls. It specialises in breeding Jersey and Holstein Friesian (HF) cattle. The frozen semen from these stud bulls is distributed to various parts of Tamil Nadu.Various diagnostic tests and analyses are regularly conducted within the on-site laboratory. The semen produced through this modern laboratory ensures a 93% probability of female calves.EOM
