Patna: Commuters are set to face major traffic changes on Nehru Path as authorities have prepared a diversion plan for the construction of three new Patna metro stations while ensuring minimum disruption to daily movement.A meeting chaired by Patna superintendent of police (traffic) Sagar Kumar was held with officials of Patna Metro Rail Corporation Limited and HCC, the agency executing the station construction. The meeting focused on maintaining smooth traffic movement during the construction of Metro stations at zoo, Vikas Bhawan and Income Tax Golambar, located along the city’s busiest stretch, Nehru Path.Following the meeting, traffic police and metro officials jointly inspected the proposed sites to assess traffic flow and finalise a practical diversion plan. Deputy superintendents of police (traffic) of the fourth and fifth divisions were also present.Under the traffic management plan, one lane of Nehru Path near Rajvanshi Nagar will be closed for metro construction machinery. To avoid congestion, the road is being widened by removing the boundary wall of Radio Bhawan behind the Panchmukhi Hanuman Temple. The additional space will be used to create a new carriageway, allowing vehicles from Patel Bhawan to pass behind the temple before merging with the existing two-lane road.A new divider is also being constructed near the temple to ensure smooth movement between Patel Bhawan and Dak Bungalow during the construction period.During the meeting, Sagar directed officials to implement the diversion plan with minimum inconvenience to commuters, pedestrians and especially autorickshaw drivers. Officials said metro construction and traffic management would continue simultaneously to ensure the project progresses without affecting public convenience.
