The Devil Wears Prada 2 is the biggest, most anticipated fashion movie of this year. Fans are excited to see Anne Hathaway, Meryl Streep, Stanley Tucci, and Emily Blunt reprise their roles as Andy Sachs, Miranda Preistly, Nigel, and Emily on screen.

One of the most popular scenes from the film is Miranda’s monologue on Andy’s cerulean sweater, so much so that the iconic scene became a pop culture moment, enacted by hundreds of fans online. Throwing back to this unforgettable on-screen moment from the film, Meryl Streep promoted the new movie dressed in a version of the cerulean sweater.
Meryl Streep wears THE cerulean sweater
Trust Meryl Streep to deliver one of the biggest fashion moments of The Devil Wears Prada 2 press tour! The Oscar-winning actor recently appeared on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert, wearing a cerulean blue sweater. Fans of the first Devil Wears Prada film would remember the sweater, and Miranda judging Andy for dismissing fashion. Two decades later, Meryl donned the same look.
As she arrived for the interview, Meryl was seen outside the studio in a leopard-patterned, wool trench coat and black pants. However, during the shoot, she removed the coat to reveal the iconic sweater.
Decoding Meryl Streep’s look
Quite similar to the one Anne Hathaway’s Andy wears in the movie, Meryl’s top from J.Crew features knit embroidery, a round neckline, drop shoulders, a baggy silhouette, and full-length sleeves.
She completed the look with black flared pants, silver hoop earrings, purple-frame glasses, a statement ruby ring, and black slingback pumps. Merly left her tresses loose for this look, and a Birkin tote bag and minimal glam gave the finishing touches.
How did the internet react?
Fans loved the fashion referencing, with some even praising Meryl’s stylist, Micaela Erlanger, for the genius behind the look. One Instagram user wrote, “I love this because the Cerulean sweater is one of the most famous references from the show. It gives the fans a little connection to the show because we’re all in on the joke.”
Another commented, “Whoever thought of this, good job.” Someone else commented, “From a pile of… stuff.” A fan of the movie commented, “I love that we all see the cerulean sweater!” Another commented, “And the Queen wears not just blue, not turquoise…not lapis… It’s actually CERULEAN.”
Meanwhile, besides reuniting the original main cast with director David Frankel and writer Aline Brosh McKenna, the film also stars Kenneth Branagh, Simone Ashley, Justin Theroux, Lucy Liu, Patrick Brammall, Caleb Hearon, Helen J Shen, and BJ Novak. The Devil Wears Prada 2 hits the cinemas on May 1, 2026.
