Guwahati: University of Science and Technology, Meghalaya, hosted the 10th PA Sangma Memorial Lecture to mark the former Meghalaya CM and Lok Sabha Speaker’s 79th birth anniversary.The lecture, held recently at NKC Auditorium of University of Science & Technology Meghalaya (USTM), brought together academics, university officials, faculty members, researchers and students to remember Sangma’s leadership and contributions.Prof S K Barik, vice-chancellor of North-Eastern Hill University, Shillong, was the distinguished speaker. USTM vice-chancellor Prof G D Sharma, Prof A C Kataki, director of medical administration at PA Sangma International Medical College, PIMC principal Prof H K Sharma, senior faculty members, deans and students also attended.Barik said USTM played a commendable role in preserving Sangma’s legacy through the memorial lecture and creating a platform for academic dialogue inspired by his vision and commitment to the Northeast.Instituted in Sangma’s memory, the annual lecture has emerged as an academic platform for distinguished personalities and intellectuals to discuss issues concerning society, education and the Northeast.The event paid tribute to Sangma and reaffirmed USTM’s commitment to academic excellence, research, knowledge creation and socially relevant intellectual discourse.
