Shillong: Shillong: Meghalaya achieved a milestone in its sporting journey as the host state agreement for the 39th National Games 2027 was officially signed at the JN Sports Complex, Shillong, on Saturday.Union minister for youth affairs and sports, Mansukh Mandaviya, CM Conrad K Sangma and Indian Olympic Association president PT Usha were present at the event.Mandaviya said the Centre remains committed to strengthening sports infrastructure and nurturing talent in the northeast.CM Sangma said the signing of the agreement marked a “proud moment for Meghalaya” and reflected the state’s vision of becoming a “leading sporting destination” in the country.Sprinter PT Usha described the development as a significant step for sports in Meghalaya.An integrated multipurpose indoor hall, which was inaugurated, is expected to serve as one of the key venues for the National Games and provide modern facilities for athletes across the region.Mandaviya also announced that a state-of-the-art, world class high-altitude training centre, worth Rs 150 crore would be established in Meghalaya very soon.
