Kolhapur: Panhala-Shahuwadi MLA Vinay Kore, speaking to the media on Saturday, said that he had met public works minister Shivendrasinh Bhosale at Mantralaya on Friday. He claimed the minister has assured him that he would give instructions to accelerate work on the three major ghat roads connecting the Kolhapur and Ratnagiri districts.Apart from Kore, the meeting was attended by Rajapur MLA Kiran Samant, Karveer MLA Chandradeep Narke, secretary (roads) Sanjay Dashpute, chief engineer (national highways) Santosh Shelar, former construction and health chairman of Kolhapur zilla parishad Sarjerao Patil, and other officials. They discussed the construction of three ghat roads to improve connectivity between Konkan and parts of Kolhapur district.

The first road is via Pawankhind-Gajapur-Vishalgad in Shahuwadi tehsil to connect with Devde-Bhowade in Sangameshwar tehsil of Ratnagiri district. The second ghat road is from Anuskura-Gawadi village in Shahuwadi tehsil to Bhambed Dhangarwadi in Lanja tehsil of Ratnagiri. The third is a new ghat road connecting Vashi-Padsali in Panhala tehsil of Kolhapur to Kajirda in Rajapur tehsil of Ratnagiri.Kore said, “If new ghat roads are constructed to connect Konkan with Shahuwadi and Panhala talukas and Kolhapur district, it will add to the development of Kolhapur and Konkan. It will further boost tourism growth in the region. We requested that action be taken by state public works minister Shivendrasinh Bhosale. The minister, in return, has assured that all the works would be approved soon.”
