MEERUT: IIMT University has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the Indian Collegiate Arts and Athletics Association (ICAAA) to expand structured opportunities in sports and performing arts for its students.
The MoU was formalised on February 28 in the presence of vice chancellor Dr Deepa Sharma, registrar Dr V P Rakesh, dean physical education and director sports Dr Varender Singh Patial, ICAAA mentor and senior partner Anurag Srivastav, partner – strategy and university coordination Sadhvi Bhadauria, and strategy advisor S Raju.
The agreement was signed by registrar Dr V P Rakesh and ICAAA mentor Anurag Srivastav, followed by an exchange of documents between the vice chancellor and Srivastav.
Addressing the gathering, Dr Sharma said the collaboration would offer structured mentorship, professional guidance and greater exposure to students aspiring to excel in sports and fine arts at national and international levels. She added that such partnerships are vital to creating a holistic academic environment that balances academics with co-curricular excellence.
Srivastav said universities in emerging cities have a crucial role in nurturing talent at the grassroots level. He noted that ICAAA aims to build strong collegiate platforms to identify, support and promote deserving athletes and artists across the country.
ICAAA representatives said similar MoUs would soon be signed with universities across the North Zone, followed by partnerships in the East, West and South Zones, as part of its plan to develop a nationwide collegiate arts and athletics ecosystem.
University officials described the partnership as a significant step towards strengthening India’s collegiate sports and performing arts framework while widening professional pathways for young talent.
