Nagpur: Pachpaoli police have invoked stringent provisions of the Maharashtra Control of Organised Crime Act (MCOCA) against two habitual criminals involved in multiple housebreakings and thefts. Cops recovered cash and jewellery worth Rs59 lakh from the two.The two thieves broke into the Lashkaribagh house of Prakash Gupta when the family was away on a pilgrimage. The burglars stole Rs1.50 lakh in cash from a wooden cupboard along with gold and silver ornaments valued at Rs1.83 lakh.Acting on technical surveillance, and intelligence leads, Pachpaoli police arrested Anup alias Anshul Wakde (19), a resident of Ghasiyaripura in Lashkaribagh, and his accomplice Yash alias Baba Bansod (25), a resident of Indora.The two confessed to the crime during interrogation. Police said Wakde operated as the gang leader. The duo has a long criminal history involving housebreaking, theft, assault, and carrying unlicensed weapons in various parts of Nagpur.
