Pattan, Aug 1: As part of the ongoing nationwide Safai Apnao, Bimaari Bhagao (SABB) campaign launched by the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs (MoHUA), Municipal Committee Pattan organized a targeted hygiene awareness drive at New Era Public School, Pattan.

Executed in alignment with Swachh Bharat Mission Urban 2.0 guidelines, the program focused on educating young students about essential hand hygiene practices to prevent seasonal infections and promote healthy lifestyles across the community.

The awareness session was led by dedicated Community Mobilizers of Municipal Committee Pattan. During the interactive program, Community Mobilizers demonstrated the correct ‘7 Steps of Handwashing’ technique, guiding students through each essential step cleaning palms, the back of hands, interdigital spaces between fingers, backs of fingers, thumbs, fingertips, and wrists.

The field team highlighted the critical role proper handwashing plays in breaking the chain of transmission for water-borne and communicable diseases during the monsoon season.

Students actively participated in the practical demonstration, practicing all seven steps alongside the municipal team. By engaging school children as key champions for hygiene, MC Pattan aims to foster long-term behavioral change and spread critical public health messages from classrooms to households.

MC Pattan reaffirmed its commitment to continuing school outreach programs, community engagement drives, and awareness activities under the SABB campaign to ensure a clean, healthy, and disease-resilient town.
