Ahmedabad: It’s time to take out the linens and cottons from the bottom of your wardrobe pile, for temperatures are expected to rise in Gujarat over the next three days. According to the Met department, there will be a gradual rise of 3-5°C in maximum temperatures and 2-3°C in minimum temperatures over the next three days, after which no significant change is expected.The city recorded a maximum of 34.2°C and a minimum of 18.2°C on Friday, both below normal for this time of year. In Ahmedabad, the sky is expected to remain partly cloudy, with the maximum temperatures likely to hover around 34°C and the minimum around 19°C.For Saturday, light to moderate rain or thundershowers may occur at isolated places in north Gujarat districts, including Banaskantha, Sabarkantha, Patan and Mehsana, as well as parts of Saurashtra-Kutch such as Amreli, Bhavnagar, Gir Somnath and Kutch, and in Diu.From Sunday onwards, dry weather is likely to prevail across all districts of Gujarat, Saurashtra-Kutch and the Union territories of Diu, Daman and Dadra & Nagar Haveli for the rest of the week.Isolated pockets of Gujarat, particularly Saurashtra, witnessed light to heavy rainfall over the past 24 hours, even as large parts of the state remained dry, according to the India Meteorological Department (IMD). The IMD has not issued any weather warnings for the state over the next seven days.Heavy rain was reported at isolated places in Gir Somnath district, while light rainfall occurred in parts of Saurashtra and Diu. The rest of Gujarat, including Kutch, Daman, and Dadra & Nagar Haveli, experienced largely dry weather.Day temperatures dipped noticeably across several parts of the Gujarat region and Saurashtra, remaining below normal in many areas. Minimum temperatures, however, showed a mixed trend, rising in parts of Kutch while staying below normal in much of Gujarat and Saurashtra-Kutch.The prevailing weather is being influenced by an upper-air cyclonic circulation over southwest Rajasthan and adjoining Pakistan, along with a western disturbance extending from north Haryana to north Chhattisgarh.
